In 1782 Martin Müller starts production of watch-springs in Vienna and becomes familiar with the crucible cast steel process, the most advanced-technology for wire-manufacturing. 1804 Martin Müller, now named Martin MILLER builds the first crucible mill on the European Continent.

In 1840 Development of steel piano wire brings world-wide recognition to the company. Manufacturing of gang, circular and hand saws and Warm rolling-mill for industrial knife production. 1900 A cold-rolling mill and hydro-electric plant are built. The company is converted into a limited company and the Creditanstalt-Bankverein (a bank) holds the majority of the shares.
